Remembering 9/11

She didn't write it with September 11th in mind but it sure seems fitting. You may recognize the beginning of this from a much more lighthearted poem a few months ago.

WHY ON THIS PERFECT DAY
by Mary Rachel Jones, age 8

Golden sun creeps over the valley
Cats linger in the alley
Birds chirping in the morning
Kids at school are learning
that on this perfect day
escaped from the dungeon is the dragon
People packing up their wagons
hear the screaming shrieks
The dragon tears flesh with its beak
No one even got a warning
Many families start mourning
Oh why on this perfect morning
does
the
dragon
escape.

She's kind of deep, isn't she. I'm impressed! It sounds like it was composed by someone much older than 8. I'd say, date this one 9/11 and it's perfect.
